GREENSPIRE: Green Strategies and Alliances for Renewable Industrial Heat

GREENSPIRE addresses one of the major challenges of the energy transition: industrial heat demand, an area where electrification and renewable solutions are progressing more slowly than in other sectors. The project aims to overcome the barriers that still hinder the implementation of renewable heat in European industries and companies by fostering energy cooperation among related organizations. The project proposes that several companies share renewable energy assets through advanced collaborative models to maximize efficiency, reduce costs, and minimize emissions.

The project explores synergies between different renewable heat solutions applicable in combination in industrial environments:

• Solar thermal
• High-temperature heat pumps
• Thermal storage systems (TES)
• Industrial waste heat recovery

The joint integration of these technologies allows for the simultaneous supply of several companies, opening the door to new, more sustainable and competitive shared heat models.

GREENSPIRE is being developed through six pilot projects located in Spain (Getafe), Denmark, Belgium, and Greece , where real-world solutions for industrial energy cooperation are being tested. These cases will serve as a reference for replicating the model in other European territories.

Getafe Iniciativas participates as a partner in the European consortium, contributing to:

• Promote the implementation of renewable heat models in production environments.
• Facilitate the creation of alliances between local businesses.
• Strengthening the energy transition of the Spanish industrial fabric.

This participation places Getafe as a benchmark in innovation for industrial decarbonization at a European level.
