Business parks represent a significant opportunity to accelerate the adoption of renewable energy and improve energy efficiency. However, companies often face barriers such as regulatory complexity, limited experience with collective investment models, and uncertainty about governance structures.
The WESHARE Learning Toolkit has been designed to address these challenges:
- Explain the fundamentals of business energy communities
- It guides stakeholders through governance and organizational models
- It introduces business and finance approaches
- It supports capacity building through peer-learning methodologies
- Translate pilot experiences into replicable knowledge
This tool is based on WESHARE's work in Belgium, Spain and Portugal, where pilot projects are testing collaborative approaches to energy production, collective self-consumption and flexibility.
WESHARE supports the transition to clean energy in European business parks by fostering energy collaboration between companies. According to the project framework, the expected impacts include:
- Approximately 11 GWh/year of renewable energy production
- 2.3 GWh/year energy savings
- Approximately 2,000 tons of CO₂ reduced annually
